Welcome…

I will be based out of Debrecen, Hungary, in the apartment of my dear friend, S.S. for the next six weeks. After nine months of living the effects of Hurricane Katrina (on myself and others), I am taking an emotional and physical break to rejuvenate and refocus my tired little cells. Am I broken? No, but I am tired of living through the consequences of poor planning, ineptitude, greed, and self-righteousness. Perhaps it is unavoidable, but Katrina, for me, has come to signify all of the slights and imbalances in our country…the judgments of unknown lifestyles, the justifications for mistreating others, and the overall failure of so many with so much power and so little sense interest in looking beyond themselves.

I take this opportunity to extend many thanks to those who are helping make this trip a reality for me, whether through flexibility, generosity, or supportiveness. Your participation is an exceptional gift.

Cheers and safe travels to all!

  1. Hurrican Katrina will always be with us – whether the ignorant comments of folks who live in tornado or forest fire land which no knowledge of the watery states or the realization, by the more open-minded, that our country is not united and if we are a “family” we are a sick family indeed. I consider the response to Hurricane Katrina, especially federal, a shameful moment of mammoth proportions.
