After nine months of living the effects of Hurricane Katrina (on myself and others), I am taking an emotional and physical break to rejuvenate and refocus my tired little cells. Am I broken? No, but I am tired of living through the consequences of poor planning, ineptitude, greed, and self-righteousness. Perhaps it is unavoidable, but Katrina, for me, has come to signify all of the slights and imbalances in our country\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6the judgments of unknown lifestyles, the justifications for mistreating others, and the overall failure of so many with so much power and so little sense interest in looking beyond themselves.<\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-family: Arial;\">I take this opportunity to extend many thanks to those who are helping make this trip a reality for me, whether through flexibility, generosity, or supportiveness.
